Thesis Title: “Study on the Association of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of Cognitive neuro-developmental
Genes with Epilepsy and their Prevalence in the Bangladeshi Population”
Thesis Supervisor: Dr. Laila Khaleda, Professor, Department of Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology,
University of Chittagong.
Thesis Description: I studied how specific gene variations (SNPs) in SCN1A, SCN2A, and ABCB1 are linked to
epilepsy in Bangladesh. I analyzed DNA from 100 epilepsy patients collected from hospitals and specialized
centers. I gathered information on family history, prenatal issues, and other conditions from their medical records.
I used phenol-chloroform to extract DNA, performed PCR and Sanger sequencing and analyzed the sequences
using SnapGene Viewer and Finch TV. SPSS 20.0 helped me calculate gene variation frequencies, and I used chi-
square and Fisher’s exact tests to analyze the data, presenting results as counts and percentages.

University of Chittagong
Project Title: “Evaluation of inhibitory effects of selected phytochemicals on tetM-mediated tetracycline
resistance in Staphylococcus aureus using bioinformatics approaches.”
Project Description: Antibiotics in fishery, poultry, and livestock production industries promote growth, prevent
infections, and increase food-borne pathogens resistance. This study focuses on tetracycline resistance in
Staphylococcus aureus, using phytochemical compounds to inhibit resistance through molecular docking. The
findings highlight potential drug designs against tetracycline-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
